Kristen Shuler, LCSW

Availability

Kristen is someone who approaches client work with a firmly held belief, “Everybody is TRULY doing the best they can”. She likes to hold creative space where people can talk about anything. Nothing is taboo; she wants to address everything you need openly and directly. Kristen often utilizes a variety of creative expression as a part of her work, including therapeutic horticulture as a part of treatment to illustrate the nature of nurturing change, and various fiber arts incorporated as part of treatment. Kristen believes that DBT creates change through building insight into one’s problems, developing a broader and more specialized tool kit of skills, and finally realizing one’s own new abilities to manage one’s own life.  She knows that once someone learns DBT, it’s something they will never lose, and thus is an invaluable investment. Kristen creates her own life worth living through a wide range of hobbies; teaching at Missouri State University’s social work program; and using DBT skills for herself daily.
