Referral and Provider Assignment

DBT Columbia will accept provider and self-referrals.  All inquiries and referrals for Columbia DBT should be forwarded to our referral line or email address given on our home page.

At the time of referral, the caller/client will be asked to provide their name/client name, their insurance, symptoms and behaviors, current psychiatrist, current therapist, and referral source.

The Consultation Team will discuss new referrals weekly.  Determining factors include: if the client meets qualifying diagnosis/behaviors, therapist’s ability to accept insurance, and availability of therapist.  An assessment of client may be scheduled to assess criteria further.  Potential clients will be notified directly by a DBT team member.  If the client is not accepted, an appropriate referral will be made.  The team may put the potential client on a waiting list, due to individual therapist availability.

If you are unsure about a referral for yourself or another person, please contact us to discuss it.  We are happy to answer any questions or talk to the client, family ourselves.
